In addition to the rotating performance schedule, there will be renowned local visual artists leading interactive masterpieces, raffle prizes for local art, music and dining. Plus, the fine folks at Union Jack's of Annapolis and Maker's Mark will be teaming up to bring some amazing drink specials named after the bands up onstage.
According to Kit Whitacre, Fest Organizer and lead member of Kit and The Chardonnay Boys, “The entire community has been touched by the what happened at the Capital Gazette office a few weeks ago. On a more personal note, my brothers, my friends, and many other bands playing this Fest, have been interviewed by Wendi several times. She always helped curate a cool and hip sense of journalism with her passion for the arts, and I was also a classmate of her eldest son for many years. The Capital has always been our community newspaper supporting the local music scene in ways that many others couldn't. It’s just our way to try to give a little something back.”
Fest organizers have made plans for a shuttle throughout the evening, running from inner West St. Downtown and the Union Jack’s parking lot. For more details visit The Uptown Fest Facebook page.
Tickets are $10 in advance, 15$ at the door. Purchase tickets here today. For more information, Please contact Kit Whitacre at 443.534.3608 or email uptownfest2018@gmail.com.
